Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Community Health Education will provide free DermaScan facial screenings at the hospital’s Education Center on Town Center Drive in Valencia on July 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Attendees will discover the benefits of DermaScan, a service that shows the impact of the sun’s damaging rays, and learn the best ways to protect themselves.

DermaScans can serve as great starting points for monitoring skin health, and can also provide an opportunity to begin a conversation with a doctor.

Those who wish to be scanned must arrive without makeup to obtain an adequate reading.

This screening involves an ultraviolet examination of the face, looking for dry or oily skin patches. Results will be provided to participants so they can discuss any irregularities, in skin color or pigment, with their doctors.

Limited space is available for this free screening; appointments can be made on a first-come, first served basis.
