On June 11, 2016, the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center and other city pools will open for the summer. Residents can enjoy open recreational swim, Aqua ZUMBA, swimming lessons, Dive-in Movie Nights and more throughout the summer.
City pools include the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center, Newhall Pool, North Oaks Pool, Santa Clarita Pool, Valencia Glen Pool and Valencia Meadows pool.
Recreational swim at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and children ages 3 to 17. At all other pools, entry for adults is $2, while seniors and children ages 3 to 17 is $1. Children 2 years and under are free at all locations, but must wear a waterproof diaper. All pools offer recreational swim except the Valencia Glen Pool. Hours at pools vary by location and can be found at santa-clarita.com/Seasons.
There will be three opportunities during the summer for families to attend Dive-in Movie Nights. At this event, people can watch a PG-rated movie while floating in the pool or relaxing on a deck. “Minions” will be shown on Saturday, June 25 at the Santa Clarita pool. “The Good Dinosaur” will be shown on Saturday, July 16 and “Inside Out” will be shown on Friday, August 5 at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center. The price to attend Dive-in Movie Night is $10 per person.
American Red Cross swimming lessons are offered at all locations for beginners that want to learn how to swim. This program offers a four-level system that children can use to start or improve their swimming abilities. Beginning stroke and diving classes are also available.
More experienced swimmers can participate in advanced stroke workouts, swim teams, diving teams, water polo teams, and synchronized swim teams as well. Those interested in participating on a team must be at least 7 years old.
SCUBA Diving Class, Underwater Hockey, Tri-it! Triathlon Training Program are also available.
