Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw lost his third game of the season as the Los Angeles Dodgers dropped the first game of the four-game series against the Colorado Rockies 9-1 Thursday night, a season-high seventh consecutive loss.
Los Angeles has not lost seven straight games since May 3-10, 2013, when the club went on an eight-game skid, and have lost 12 of its last 13 games since August 26.
o The Dodgers allowed a season-high 16 hits Thursday night, the most the club has given up since Oct. 2, 2016 at SF.
· The Rockies opened their eight-game road trip to Los Angeles (1-0) and Arizona (four games) with a win and have won four of their last five games away from Coors Field. Colorado, which snapped its three-game losing streak to the Dodgers, improved to 6-7 on the season against Los Angeles.
o The Rockies nine runs were the most at Dodger Stadium since tallying 12 on April 29, 2013.
DODGER NOTES:
· In his first start at Dodger Stadium since July 23 and in his 23rd start of the season, Clayton Kershaw allowed four runs on six hits in 3.2 innings with seven strikeouts as he recorded his first loss since May 1. Despite having his 12-game winning streak snapped, Kershaw has gone 12-1 in his last 17 games, posting a 1.91 ERA (24 ER/109.2 IP), holding hitters to a .192 average and striking out 138 batters against just 24 walks.
· Yasiel Puig drove in the lone run for the Dodgers with an RBI double in the fourth inning and finished the night going 1-for-3. In his past 17 games since Aug. 21, Puig is batting .315 (17-for-54) with seven runs, five doubles, one triple, three home runs and six RBI along with a 1.033 OPS.
· Chris Taylor recorded his 36th multi-hit game of the season after going 2-for-3 in tonight’s contest. Taylor has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games since Aug. 29, batting .310 (13-for-42) with four runs, two doubles, two homers and four RBI.
· Cody Bellinger, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored, collected his 26th multi-hit game of the season and has hit safely in six of his last seven games since Sept. 1. During that span he has gone 8-for-28 (.286) with four runs, two doubles, one triple, two homers and four RBI along with a .929 OPS.
· After having his contract selected yesterday from Triple-A Oklahoma City, Walker Buehler made his Major League debut, allowing just one hit and striking out two over 2.0 scoreless frames.
