VISALIA – The Lancaster JetHawks scored first but managed only four total hits in a rubber-game loss to the Visalia Rawhide, 4-1, on Sunday night at Recreation Ballpark.
Luke Morgan (pictured above) gave the JetHawks (21-17, 55-51) a lead in the third inning with an RBI double, but Visalia (21-17, 65-39) responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.
Colten Schmidt (1-1) suffered his first loss in the Cal League after allowing four runs on seven hits over six innings. He allowed a two-run homer to Anfernee Grier in the fourth to put the JetHawks behind, 4-1. The left-hander struck out six and walked one batter.
Visalia starter Justin Lewis (2-1) struck out a career-high nine batters over six innings. The Rawhide bullpen combined for three hitless innings to finish the game. Breckin Williams pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 10th save.
The JetHawks return to action at home after Monday’s off day. They host the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in the first of a three-game series on Tuesday night at 6:35 p.m. Garrett Schilling is scheduled to start against Andre Jackson.
