Canyon quarterback Jonathan Jerozal hit wide receiver Coley Apsay in the back of the end zome from five yards out with a minute to play to give Canyon a 13-7 Foothill League win over West Ranch Friday night at Dr. Paul Priesz Stadium.

West Ranch used an opening game pooch kick on the kickoff that was fumbled by the Cowboys. On the very next play, Wildcats’ running back Jeff Coprich ran 35 yards for the touchdown.
The rest of the first half was sloppy as West Ranch (5-3, 1-2) recovered three Canyon (7-1, 2-1) fumbles. Wildcats quarterback Garrett Mouw threw two interceptions. West Ranch held that 7-0 lead into the locker room.
After trading punts to open the third quarter, the Cowboys put a drive together. On 4th and goal from an inch away, Jerozal hit Drew Wolitarsky with the touchdown pass to tie the score at 7-7.
Canyon had 365 yards of total offense compared to 176 for West Ranch. Jerozal was the U.S. Army Player of the Game completing 16-of-25 for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Max Archuleta finished with 92 yards on 18 carries.
West Ranch running back Jeff Coprich led all ground gainers with 100 yards on 21 carries. Garrett Mouw finished 3-of-11 for 42 yards and two interceptions.
Hart defeated Valencia 19-14 and Saugus beat Golden Valley 36-27, making a four-way tie atop the Foothill League between Canyon, Hart, Saugus and Valencia
