The Curtis Cup is a biennial international women’s amateur golf competition between eight-player teams from the USA and GB&I. The Bruins had three players participate in the 2014 Curtis Cup, Alison Lee and Erynne Lee for the United States and Law for GB&I. The 2016 Curtis Cup Match will mark the seventh straight time at least one Bruin has represented either side: (Tiffany Lua, Law – 2012; Stephanie Kono, Lua – 2010; Tiffany Joh – 2008; Jane Park – 2006 and 2004).
Law, the 2016 recipient of the ANNIKA Award, as well as the ’16 PING WGCA Player of the Year, was automatically selected to the GB&I team as one of the four highest players in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (currently ranked fourth). She is playing in her third Curtis Cup, going 1-2-1 in 2014 and 1-1-1 on the victorious squad in 2012. Law led the Bruins this season with a 70.6 scoring average, posting eight Top 10s in nine events, including a co-medalist finish at the Bryan Regional. It was her third victory of the season and the sixth of her career. She had 20 rounds under par and 11 in the 60s. Law, who was named All-Pac-12 First Team, finished ninth in stroke play at the NCAA Championships and never trailed in both of her match-play contests.
Wu, who was named WGCA Honorable Mention All-American and All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention, held a scoring average of 73.0 in her freshman season, posting a pair of Top 10s and seven Top 20s. Outside of UCLA, Wu has had a lot of success in the match-play environment. She reached the semifinals of the U.S. Women’s Amateur last summer and was second at the 2015 Women’s North and South Amateur and the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship. Wu finished the calendar year first in the Golfweek junior rankings. She was also on the winning side of the 2014 Wyndham Cup, the ’14 Junior Ryder Cup and the 2013 Junior Solheim Cup.
Galdiano, who is ranked sixth in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking, signed her National Letter of Intent with UCLA in November. She won a pair of tournaments in 2015, the Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle Championship and the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship. She also earned runner-up finishes at the ’15 Junior PGA Championship and ’15 Polo Golf Junior Classic. Galdiano, who is a three-time Rolex All-American, has competed in the 2011, 2013 and 2015 U.S. Women’s Opens.
