Karen Walker

Scratch, an indoor golf training and instruction center, has announced the promotion of Karen Walker to the position of Lead Instructor. Doug Dannevik, Scratch’s Center Manager, praises Karen. “Karen brings a wealth of experience to this position for us and the Santa Clarita community. Her expertise in club fitting is unparalleled in the Santa Clarita valley and her teaching prowess for both adults and juniors alike is so rare, we are very fortunate to have her and congratulate her on the new promotion.”

Effective immediately, Karen will act as Lead Instructor at Scratch which entails designing and directing many of the instruction programs as well as supervising the other instructors. She is also a Certified Custom Club Fitter for Callaway and Henry Griffitts golf clubs, both available at Scratch. “I have enjoyed teaching at Scratch in such a cutting edge, high tech environment! I am excited about the opportunity to help people in the Santa Clarita Valley improve their golf swings and have their equipment custom fit for their swings so they can enjoy the game of golf even more!” said Karen Walker.

Karen is an LPGA member and has been a golf instructor for 17 years. She studied with the LPGA using the Integrated Performance System (IPS). IPS takes into consideration the different psychological and physical conditions of each student in addition to equipment needs. Her career started at the Warm Springs Golf Club in Sun Valley, Idaho where she was eventually promoted to General Manager. She later moved to California where she worked as a Teaching Professional and Certified Custom Club Fitter at Carlsbad Golf Center in Carlsbad. As a teacher, Karen has worked with all ages and levels of players from junior to adult and senior.

Scratch is a 12,000-square-foot indoor golf training and instruction center. Within its space is a putting green, chipping area, sand bunker, fitness room, and four AboutGolf PGA-approved simulators. These simulators make playable over 30 real golf courses including Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. Each player’s data is tracked with computers and accessible online through the Scratch website. This technological advantage allows Scratch to easily analyze and improve a player’s swing.
