A man suffered minor injuries when his car, a pickup truck and a school bus collided near the corner of Copper Hill Drive and Agajanian Drive in Valencia Monday morning.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department received a call about the collision at 7:56 a.m. Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers from the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall Office also quickly arrived at the scene.
“It was a Toyota, small sedan, that drifted lanes on Copper Hill (westbound) into oncoming traffic, and went head-on into a Chevy pickup truck,” said CHP Officer Josh Greengard.
“The collision pushed the truck to the right and directly into the path of the school bus,” Greengard said. “The school bus rear-ended the pickup truck, but the bus wasn’t involved with the Toyota crossing the double lines” into oncoming traffic.
The Toyota driver, a 41-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries Greengard described as “very minor.” Greengard would not identify the man.
The Saugus Union School District bus had two special-needs students aboard at the time of the collision, but neither passenger or the driver suffered injuries, Greengard said.
The collision blocked all traffic in the westbound lanes of Copper Hill for nearly two hours, Greengard said, as investigators gathered evidence and clean-up crews cleared the street.
The collision’s cause was the Toyota driver “not paying attention,” but “we’re not filing any charges,” Greengard said.
“I know after the four-day weekend everyone’s in a hurry to get back to work or wherever they’re going,” he said, “so we’re just asking people to slow down and get to their destinations safely.”

Not going to file any charges for not paying attention? That’s absurd. What was he doing while he wasn’t paying attention while driving. Isn’t paying attention the only thing you should be doing?
That’s because in our town, our Sheriffs Deputies are only concerned if someone dies or is driving drunk or on drugs. My neighbors and I have had many issues with speeders/bad drivers in our residential streets and when we’ve asked why they are not perusing an arrest we were told “Because no one died or was impaired”. Wow !!!!! so much for trying to be proactive. We are really disappointed in SCV Sheriffs . It would appear they only draw chalk lines or set up yellow tape.
This does not look minor! And what about the person in the pickup truck? Are their injuries minor? And not releasing the name of the Toyota car? Sounds like someone is being protected!
SCV has no shortage of bad or impatient drivers. especially with our horrible traffic every morning
