mike beckThe OutWest Concert Series presented by SCVTV is back again with An Evening with Mike Beck on Thursday, March 24 at the Repertory East Playhouse.

Mike Beck is an engaging acoustic solo artist who performs in the United States and Europe. He is a regularly featured performer at The National Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering. Mike has six albums under his belt with original songs that have been recognized as some of the finest compositions on Western Americana out there. The Western Horseman magazine recently picked “The 13 Best Cowboy Songs,” and included two compositions by Mike, putting him along side other writers such as Ian Tyson, Tom Russell, Lucinda Williams, and Gene Autry. His strong command of the guitar and playing reminiscent of Steven Stills, sets him apart in a way that has garnered him many request for guitar workshops at festivals. Mike is a seasoned performer — his guitar work and warm, genuine style engages audiences with his songs and stories.

mike_beck_elko_2016According to Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, “Mike Beck plays the guitar like a Byrd. His strings do things that mine could never do. They obey the slightest finger-touch commands like a fine Reining Horse.”

Born and raised in Monterey County, California, at age 13, Mike Beck went to the Monterey Pop Festival and liked what he heard. He picked up a guitar and never looked back. Since that time, he has been composing and performing a wide array of folk, rock and Americana music. Mike’s songs reflect his life as a professional musician and a working cowboy in California, Nevada and Montana.

SCVTV Presents The OutWest Concert Series is part of Thursdays@Newhall and made possible by SCVTV, OutWest, Repertory East Playhouse, and the Western Music Association California Chapter. Special “Thank You” to the Magazine of Santa Clarita.
