March 8: ARTree – Figure Drawing at ARTree Community Arts Center

Are you an artist frustrated with the lack of opportunities to draw in Santa Clarita? Come to ARTree Community Arts Center for a chance to really explore your creative potential using a live model. Just drop in and bring a pencil and paper.

March 8: Arts Commission at Santa Clarita City Hall
Time: 6:30 p.m.
The five-member Arts Commission meets on the second Thursday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
Members of the public wishing to address the commission may do so by completing a speaker’s slip upon arrival at the meeting. There is a three-minute time limit per person.

March 8: Note by Note Showcase at The MAIN
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Note by Note is a music showcase presenting audiences with a variety of genres at this FREE evening of fun. Music from bands, duos and soloists will play their blend of music for your listening pleasure. Come enjoy a wide range of music styles, including rock, folk, Celtic, Americana, Blues, Jazz, Country, experimental, Western and more!
This month’s lineup:
Sarah Van Sciver is a professional composer, arranger, singer, pianist, and harpist.
Heather Lockie is a musician, teaching artist and visual artist who plays with her own group, Marshweed Ensemble, and has played and toured in the past as a backing musician with many international artists.
Annette Conlon is a singer/songwriter who crafts beautiful melodies to pair with her thoughtful and sometimes tragic lyrics that echo the sadness she sees in the world around her.
Annabel Sarah Borrello mixes the delicate dynamic elements of a singer/songwriter with sugary hooks and powerful vocals.

March 8: Variety Night: Movies on Main at Main Street in Old Town Newhall
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Lights, Camera, Action for Movies on Main on Main Street, Thursdays, March 8 and October 11. This all-ages, friendly evening features classic films, movie-inspired activities and food trucks. Don’t forget your favorite blanket or chair to complete your movie-watching experience.

March 9: Imani Gonzalez at Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons
Time: 6:00 p.m.
As a jazz/world vocalist, Imani’s diverse talents have led to collaborations with many music ensembles, as well as film and television projects. Most notably, her voice was featured on the musical soundtrack of the film “The Jane Biography,” and she recently performed with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. Audience will be seated on the main stage and will have an opportunity to meet the artist! Seating is limited. Includes no-host bar.

“Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story” tells the true story of singer Buddy Holly’s meteoric rise to fame, from the moment in 1957 when “That’ll Be The Day” hit the airwaves, until his tragic death less than two years later on “The Day Music Died.” The show features more than 20 of Buddy Holly’s greatest hits, including “Peggy Sue,” “Everyday”, “Oh Boy,” “Not Fade Away,” and many others including Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba” and the Big Bopper’s “Chantilly Lace.”
