It was a near-immaculate ending to a clean sweep.

The Master’s University made no errors in a commanding 6-1 win over visiting Menlo College in the second game of Saturday’s double-header.

The Mustangs (9-4 overall, 4-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference) scored four runs in the second inning and two in the sixth to take all three games from the Oaks over the weekend.

The finale had a different feel than Friday’s 5-4, 10-inning win, and Saturday’s earlier 9-8 come-from-behind victory.

The Mustangs took control with the four-run second, highlighted by RBI singles from Nick Tuttle and Max Maitland.

Tuttle, who played the hero Friday by delivering a walk-off single, added another RBI in the sixth on Saturday when he grounded out to first.

It was all more than the Mustang staff needed.

Nate Bonsell went five innings, allowing one run on five hits. He walked five and struck out three.

Aidan Stout threw two one-hit innings in relief for the save.

“We played much better defense, and I was really encouraged that we didn’t walk people,” said TMU coach Monte Brooks. “We had some great execution offensively that gave us an opportunity to blow open a couple innings, and that’s exactly what happened.”

Maitland finished the day 2-for-4. Pearson Good went 2-for-3 with a double. And Preston White singled in the first inning, giving him at least one hit in 11 of TMU’s 13 games.

The Mustangs will host No. 8 Hope International next Friday and Saturday at Lou Herwaldt Stadium.

“We just have to keep locking in at practice,” White said. “We have a good series coming up.”
