2000 - Historic Larinan house in Pico Canyon burns down [story]
Larinan house burning

The Hart High School Baseball Program and the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley will again present Hart Baseball Bingo Night at the Newhall club on Saturday, May 12, starting at 5 p.m.

Bingo players will enjoy dinner by El Cholo, drinks, bingo and surprises as they support the 100-percent community-funded Hart Baseball program.

With limited funds available from school districts, Bingo Night is bingo with a cause. This adults-only event benefits kids and prep baseball, and what’s better than that?

A $40 buy-in includes six games of bingo, dinner and a drink coupon. Special guests, a 50/50 raffle, cash bar and more will keep it interesting.

Dinner at El Cholo Dinner will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and bingo play will ensue at 7 p.m.

“It’s a great date night, ladies night, or guys night out,” said John Dow, Hart Dugout Club president and No. 1 cheerleader.

“We were thrilled to have such a great turnout in our first year,” Dow said. “More than 200 people joined us and we generated $8,000 for the Hart Baseball program. It’s going to be bigger and better this year, including a special silent auction featuring Mother’s Day items, along with great baseball memorabilia.”

The Bingo Night fundraiser would not be possible without the support of the Boys & Girls Club, Dow said.

“The Club has had a long-term working relationship with the William S. Hart High School District,” said SCV Boys & Girls Club CEO Matt Nelson. “We’re happy to support the Hart Baseball program as a number of their players, past and present, have come through our Club program.”

“Last year, the Hart Dugout Club provided an entertaining evening with our inaugural Bingo Night, and the Saturday, May 12 date for the 2018 event is rapidly approaching,” said Hart Head Coach Jim Ozella. “The Dugout Club invites the Santa Clarita Valley community to join us in a fun evening. Our special thanks to the participation of the Santa Clarita Valley Boys & Girls Club, the Santa Clarita City Council and all of our supporters.”

“The fun, friendly atmosphere is sure to draw Bingo aficionados and novices alike,” Dow said. “Purchase your tickets now to guarantee your seat, as the event is sure to sell out.”

Hart Baseball supporters who can’t attend are invited to donate tickets to their favorite charity.
