The Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita Valley is partnering with local restaurants for the “Fairy Festival Brunch and Family Fun Event” brunch this weekend.
The event will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the taking place at the Savia building located at 23780 Newhall Ave in Newhall.
Tickets are a $25 per person donation and can be purchased at the door or online at www.dvc-scv.com. Children 5 years and under are free.
The brunch is being hosted to raise funds for the Domestic Violence Center’s 30 Day Emergency Shelter which houses domestic violence victims who are in immediate danger for up to 30 days while providing optional case management, group counseling, children’s programs and individual therapy.
“The fairy theme came to us because we wanted to create awareness that domestic violence is no fairy tale,” said Executive Director Linda Davies. “This event is a light-hearted way to place the spotlight on a problem that is not so light-hearted,” she added. The fairy-themed brunch will include a delicious buffet style meal sponsored by local Santa Clarita restaurants including Honu Coffee, Pizza Del Sardo, IHOP, Mama Mia, Marstons Restaurant, La Toscana, Persia Lounge, Thelma’s Café, The Oaks Grille at TPC, Salt Creek Grille and Athena’s Rotisserie and Pizzeria.
A silent auction will also be held for whimsical fairy shelters handcrafted by local residents. The miniature fairy house gardens were built in partnership with local business Harmony Hollows. “By bidding on one of these wonderful fairy shelters, you are helping our shelter, since all the proceeds benefit our emergency shelter,” said Davies.
As the name of the event indicates, plenty of family fun will also be offered. Attendees will be able to enjoy face painting, photo booth, music, entertainment, raffle prizes and much more!
“In order to prevent domestic violence we need to promote respectful, nonviolent relationships,” said Davies. “With this event we are sending a message out to the Santa Clarita community that we are here for all individuals dealing with domestic violence, whether it’s a female or male, girlfriend or husband, verbal or physical abuse—we care and want to help,” she added.
