John Kunak was an ordinary man who deeply loved his family and the community of Castaic and the greater Santa Clarita Valley. While I didn’t always agree with John I respected him and commend him for his dedication and service to his family and community. My sincerest condolences to his wife Mary and daughter Kelly.
We are so sorry to hear this news. Our love and prayers go out to his family.
His life a Class act? Or his death an act of God? When Kunak died he was in the middle of trying to force the resignation of the Castaic town council’s president because the president had second thoughts about agreeing to allow the 22,0000 houses planned to be built here on Hwy 126. The issue- environmental concerns re: the new houses to be built and the Castaic dump that has been allowed to remain open after being slated to close several times in the last 3 decades. Not sure what the Castaic town council has been offered by the massive Newhall land project developers, but the housing project needs to be curtailed!! Santa Clarita valley’s I-5 and infrastructure can’t support the largest housing development in LA county.
