The Santa Clarita Valley is about to sport a new option for those wanting to become professional soccer players.
On the heels of the 2010 launch of the Santa Clarita Blue Heat professional soccer team for women comes Futbol Club Santa Clarita (FCSC), a National Premier Soccer League team for men.
The new team will hold tryouts at Santa Clarita Central Park next month for men 18 and older who aspire to play professional soccer.
FSCS is a developmental feeder to its affiliate, FC New York. The National Premier Soccer League is on the fourth rung of the pro soccer heirarchy behind the United Soccer League (the Blue Heat’s league), the North American Soccer League and, at the top, Major League Soccer (L.A. Galaxy’s league).
According to the FSCS website, “Our aim is to be a leading soccer organization for the advancement of young players in the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding areas. It is also our intent to bring together the community spirit through teamwork, while bringing the opportunity to participate in the game of soccer at the professional level.”
Tryouts will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 18, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interested players must pay a $50 fee and apply no later than Sept. 7. Applications are available online at this address.
