SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – On the cusp of the first round of the GSAC Tournament, a duo of first-time recipients from The Master’s College has been named to the 2015 GSAC Women’s Soccer All-Conference Team presented by Under Armour.
Tara Struiksma (Ontario, CA), a senior midfielder, received the honor after posting 17 shots, including eight shots on goal, while scoring one time in TMC’s 18 regular-season matches.
“Tara has moved all over the field trying to fill in holes as we have had so many injuries this season,” commented TMC head coach Curtis Lewis. “As she finally had to be moved and play center back she has really raised her game and has been absolutely amazing for us back there. She has totally shut down opposing forwards in our conference with dominating defense and reading of the field. She is completely deserving of this honor and really should be an All-American this year with her play.
Lynnae George (Mill Creek, WA), a freshman defender, debuts on the all-conference list after appearing in every match this season and tallying nine points on three goals and three assists. In addition, George posted thirteen shots and seven shots on goal. Notably, the freshman standout finished the season by tied for fourth in the GSAC in assists (3) and eighth in the conference in assists per game (0.3).
“Lynnae has been such a versatile addition to our program,” said Lewis. “She has played every line for us this year and has really excelled in helping us keep possession and be creative. She is fully deserving of the recognition and we look forward to her continual development over the years.”
On Saturday, Struiksma, George and the fourth-seeded Lady Mustangs will take on the fifth-seeded Menlo Oaks in the first round of the GSAC Tournament. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. at Reese Field.
