Single Mothers Outreach is proud to announce that we have a new team in place to lead us into an exciting new era. We are thrilled to welcome Yorleni Sapp as our new Executive Director and we also have made some changes to our operations team.

Yorleni Sapp is passionate about work with meaning. She brings to the job a passion for serving individuals believing all people have the right to live with dignity. Yorleni grew up in a developing country (Costa Rica), which shaped her personal values and beliefs. Her life experiences, along with living in different countries, created a strong desire within her to be part of something bigger than herself. She is fascinated about diversity and being sensitive to all cultures. Growing up in a home with both parents deeply involved in nonprofit work, she understands firsthand the impact and the rewarding experience of giving back, and affecting change. She has chosen to respond by being in a field where she can play an active part in developing solutions on behalf of social issues.

Yorleni is a graduate from UACA-Universidad Autónoma de Centro America, where she received a License in Law. She also attended Georgetown University and Costa Rica University, where she received a BA in Political Science. She is married to her loving husband, Matt. In their spare time they enjoy walks with Bella their beautiful golden retriever.

Maria Clemens, Programs and Services Director

All programs of Single Mothers Outreach are managed by Maria Clemens, who is bilingual and has a Masters in Social Work degree from California State University Northridge. She has nearly a decade of experience in evaluating non-profit, social service programs. She has an extensive clinical background working with families.

Gail Cosico, Operations Director

Gail started her involvement with SMO as a volunteer in 2014 and was recently hired in 2016, as Director of Operations. Gail has a bachelor of arts degree from Catholic University, in Washington, DC, as well as graduate work from Fordham University, New York, NY, in Counseling & Personnel Services. She feels a special connection and passion towards single mothers and their children and hopes to continue making a positive impact in the lives of women and children through her work at SMO.

Kimberly Esquivel, Administrative Assistant/Childcare Coordinator

Kimberly was born and raised in Upland, California and moved to the San Fernando Valley at age 5. She grew up bilingual in English and Spanish. She has a passion for traveling and getting to know new cultures. She served over 5 years in a non-profit organization, starting as a volunteer and was ultimately hired as a camp director working with children between the ages of 4 and 15, the majority of whom came from dysfunctional homes.

Martin Rodriguez, Chairman of the Board, said: “I am thrilled to formally announce Yorleni and her new operations team. The board wishes to thank DaAnne once more for her dedication as our former Executive Director and we look forward to supporting Yorleni and her excellent team.”
