Continuing to excel in his off-season signings, newly hired men’s basketball coach Ken Sugarman has added Evan Jenkins to his 2014-15 roster.

“I chose The Master’s College because I felt like this is where the Lord ultimately wanted me to be,” commented Jenkins. “I felt like the Lord has taken me through all the things I’ve been through in my life to bring me to this point right now.”

Jenkins, a native of Los Angeles, believes that Sugarman is in the process of assembling a squad that will not only prepare men for success on the court, but also, in all aspects of life.

“I truly trust Coach Sugarman and I really wanted to play for a coach who not only cares for me as a player but as a person,” said Jenkins. “It will really help me become a complete player, and reach my potential as a player. I’m mostly looking forward to see the work that the Lord will do in my life in order to help me become a better man of God as well as the Lord choosing me to bring Glory to Him through basketball.”

The 6-2 sophomore transfer from Cal State San Bernardino looks to aid the Mustangs in the point guard position.

During his senior year at Etiwanda High School, Jenkins led the Eagles to a 29-4 season and a 9-1 league record by averaging 10 points per game and six assists per game.  Jenkins then went on to play at Barstow Community College where he averaged 10 points per game and six assists per game. Jenkins will have three years to compete with the Mustangs as he redshirted with the CSU San Bernardino Coyotes.

Off the court, Jenkins plans to major in Kinesiology & Physical Education for a desired career as a basketball coach.

“Evan has the ability to play both guard positions for us and brings an element of toughness and maturity to our backcourt,” commented Sugarman. “His ability to create for himself and his teammates will be key for our team’s success.  Evan defends his position well and should thrive in our system.   We are excited to add him to the Mustang family.”

Looking ahead to his time as a Mustang, Jenkins desires to “To Glorify the Lord every time I step foot on the court, win a conference title every year, win a national championship, become an NBA draft prospect, and be a light and a reflection of Christ to anyone and everyone who knows me or see’s me play during my career at The Master’s College.”

Jenkins will make his debut with the Mustangs’ in its home opener against La Sierra on November 8.  Tipoff is set for 7:00 PM at Bross Court.
