A look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week.
On Sunday the 9th, a burglary and domestic violence occurred in the 25000 block of Walnut Street. The suspect and victim had dated for a year, but broke up 3 months ago. The suspect entered through a bedroom window, and stole a cell phone.
A locker was broke in to at the “Santa Clarita Athletic Club”, 24640 Wiley Canyon on Monday the 3rd. A wallet with credit cards, gift cards, and cash were stolen.
If you can plan your workouts in advance, try not to bring valuables with you. Whether you use a gym, bike ride the trails, or run and hike the open space, thieves looking for an opportunity may see you securing valuables. If you do have to secure valuables, take a look around and be aware of other people.
A 27-year-old male is in custody in Kern County for an unrelated narcotics charge, after he made 3 withdraws from his brother’s bank account at the Chase Bank on Lyon’s Avenue. The suspect will be held pending the investigation of the theft here.
On the night of Saturday the 8th, an 18 year old male reported at Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station he had been stabbed by a Male Hispanic adult, on Thursday the 6th at 11:00 p.m., in the area of Market Street and Railroad Avenue. The victim lives in Los Angeles and did have a stab wound on his arm. The case has been assigned to station gang investigators.
On Saturday the 8th, between Midnight and 6:30 a.m., a 1991 Honda Accord was stolen from the 24700 block of Fourl Road. The vehicle has not been recovered.
The 1990 to the early 2000 year models of Honda’s are currently one of the most sought after vehicles by car thieves. If you own one, take additional steps to protect yourself from being a victim. Some of the things you can do to help are alarms, steering wheel locks, ignition disabling devices, even parking in well-lit and visible locations.
On Tuesday the 4th, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., a metal mailbox was stolen from the 25100 block of Everett Drive. The victim mentioned she had seen truck loaded down with scrap metal driving around the area during the day, but no witnesses were found.
Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.
