Everyone is invited to attend a cornhole tournament on Nov. 12 at Lucky Luke Brewing to support local nonprofit Finally Family Homes. College-aged foster youth often struggle to get their basic needs met, including housing, food, and toiletries. Finally Family Homes supports these young adults, not only helping them to survive, but to thrive.
The cornhole tournament begins at 11 a.m., and last-minute registration opens at 10:30 a.m. Teams of two register to play for $60, or $30 per person. Spectators are also welcome; there’s no cost to attend. Beverages will be provided by Lucky Luke Brewing and a portion of those proceeds will go to supporting the work at Finally Family Homes. A food truck will be on-site, and attendees can bid on items at the silent auction.
“We want it to be a fun, family-friendly event,” said Christina Dronen FFH executive director. “Everyone is welcome to join the festivities.”
Former foster youth and author Jessica Castillo will have a table at the event, and will be signing copies of her book, “Trash Bag of Memories.” Finally Family Homes partners with college-aged foster youth to help them achieve lasting success in life. They help provide for recipients’ basic needs, and, just as importantly, help the young adults feel seen and celebrated. Last December, Finally Family Homes provided gifts for 101 foster youth including those connected to our local DCFS office. In May, FFH worked with community partners to provide 56 high school and college graduation gifts for locally connected foster youth.
FFH is grateful for sponsorships from Brian Clark’s Engine Dynamics, Victory Martial Arts in Stevenson Ranch, Eighth & Rail, Egg Plantation, DVD Depot, MarNaturals Body Care, Rodan & Fields Consultant Karen Mae Hernandez, Monika’s Tacos, Homegirl Cali, and Kathy Song from State Farm Insurance.
FFH is still accepting sponsorships and donations for the silent auction. All sponsors are offered a free vendor table at the event as well as other opportunities to share about their businesses.
