The next meeting of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is set for Tuesday, Oct. 9, starting at 1 p.m.

Among the agenda items is a motion by Supervisors Shiela Kuehl and Janice Han requesting an ordinance that would require businesses serving food and/or beverages in the unincorporated portions of the county to ask a customer if they would like a plastic straw or plastic sip stirrer before providing them.

The ordinance would take effect Jan. 2. 2019 (see Item 13, below).
