Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Specialized Assignment Team conducted a check of local probationers and parolees Saturday morning, and arrested a parolee’s stepfather on outstanding warrants.
Paul Sutherland, 43, was arrested when SAT deputies went to a location on Barbacoa Drive. His stepson was in compliance with the terms of his parole, but Sutherland, visiting the location at the time, was found to have several outstanding warrants for theft and narcotics.
Deputies arrested Sutherland and booked him at the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
SAT deputies are part of the team that patrolled on bikes Friday night in Newhall.
On Saturday morning, the team checked locations in Saugus and Valencia. At some of the addresses, the parolees were found to be in compliance, and at others, the parolee was no longer living there. That generated an immediate notification to the assigned parole officer.
On Friday, the station’s CIT Team deputies conducted probation searches throughout the SCV, and arrested one probationer. Derek Grant, 31, who had a $350,000 felony warrant outstanding, was arrested and booked at the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
