The Santa Clarita Philharmonic is pleased to announce the second of three concerts for their 2015-2016 season under the music direction of Jeffrey Gilbert.

The next concert on Feb. 21, 2016 will be a lighter “pops” concert.

Included in the program is the Vivaldi Concerto for 2 Trumpets featuring our own Jodi Malone and Lisa Edeleman as soloists. There will also be a performance of a medley of Abba songs and a selection of songs from the Broadway Musical “Les Miserables.”

Completing the first half will be an amusing original arrangement of animal themed songs prepared by our Composer in Residence, Mark Gasbarro.

The second half will feature former SCVTV morning show co-host, Dave Caldwell, narrating Sergei Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf.”

This a wonderful children’s story told with music and an excellent introduction to the instruments of the orchestra as each character is portrayed by a different instrument.

The remaining 2015-16 concert line up for the Santa Clarita Philharmonic is:

February 21, 2016
Vivaldi Concerto for 2 Trumpets
Original compositions by Mark Gasbarro
Prokofiev Peter and the Wolf

May 15, 2016
Beethoven Egmont Overture
Winner of the 2nd Annual Student Concerto Competition
Hadyn Symphony No. 45 “Farewell”
*Programs subject to change
Concerts are free and held at Hart High School Auditorium 24825 N. Newhall Avenue, Newhall, CA 91321 at 3:00pm. A instrument Musical Petting Zoo will be held prior to the concert at 2:00pm sponsored by the West Coast Music Academy.
