The Santa Clarita postmaster was honored by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Tuesday for his ongoing effort to give back to foster children.
Gabriel Magdaleno, 30, of Valencia, was presented with a scroll for his ongoing partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services in providing gifts and toys to foster children in the San Fernando Valley.
“It’s been both a privilege and an honor to coordinate with DCFS and the County to provide gifts to children in foster care,” said Magdaleno.
This is his second year participating in the gift drive which provides toys for about 16,000 foster children from newborns to 18-years-old in Los Angeles County.
“For me it’s a great sense,” said Magdaleno. “It’s a rewarding feeling to give back to kids in their circumstances and give them a small token to say christmas can happen for everyone.”
Magdaleno a has been a postmaster since April 2014 and has been with the U.S. Postal Service since 2003.
