The Master’s College women’s soccer schedule for the 2014 season has been released.
Possessing arguably one of the toughest schedules in the NAIA, the 18th-ranked Lady Mustangs are slated to face five elite squads ranked amongst the nation’s Top-15 teams.
“Obviously, we are looking to not only to stay in the NAIA’s Top 25, but to move up in the rankings,” commented head coach Curtis Lewis. “Right away we are facing the number one team in the nation, Concordia University of Oregon, so we’ll be looking to make a statement and test ourselves early in our schedule. I feel that this is a schedule that will prepare us for the GSAC and the post-season.”
After a pair of scrimmages at Reese Field in early August, the Lady Mustangs will open its season on the road in Ashland, Oregon, attempting to upset the defending NAIA national champions, No. 1 Concordia (Or.) on, August 23.
Three weeks later, TMC will travel to CSU San Marcos and take on the 14th-ranked Cougars in a 4:00 PM match. The last time the two teams met was on November 23, 2013 in the NAIA Opening Round at Reese Field where the Cougars ended the Lady Mustangs’ season (15-6 (6-4 GSAC)) with a 1-0 victory.
On September 24, the Lady Mustangs will open up their conference schedule in a road match against the fifth-ranked Concordia Eagles. Three days later, the Lady Mustangs will battle the second-ranked Westmont Warriors in Santa Barbara.
After facing GSAC opponents San Diego Christian, Biola, Hope International, and conference newcomer William Jessup, the Lady Mustangs will travel to Costa Mesa and take on the 12th-ranked Vanguard Lions on October 14. Shortly after, the Lady Mustangs face Concordia in the season’s final home game on Saturday, October 25.
Tuesday, November 4 marks the GSAC Tournament opener, while the NAIA Opening Round match is slated for Saturday, November 22.
Of TMC’s 17 contests, eight matches are scheduled to be played at Reese Field, while the Lady Mustangs will take to the road for nine events.
TMC’s home opener is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Labor Day against MidAmerica Nazarene University.
