[KHTS] – The Golden Valley girls golf team won its fourth Foothill League match in a row and are in position to win its first league title.
The Golden Valley girls shot 240 as a team at Elkins Ranch in Fillmore and beat Hart and West Ranch by 17 strokes.
Golden Valley’s Elisa Pierre shot the low round of the match with a 2-over 38. It was the third time she was the medalist in a Foothill League match.
Ashley Mayhall from West Ranch shot a 3-over 39, one shot behind Pierre at Elkins Ranch.
In cross country, The Master’s College women are ranked No. 7 in the NAIA for the second week in a row. It is the highest ranking for the Lady Mustangs in school history.
The will compete in the Vanguard Invitational on Saturday.
The Master’s College men’s cross country team is ranked 17th in the NAIA. They will also compete in the Vanguard Invitational this weekend.
In college soccer, The Master’s College women lost to Concordia, 4-1, in a match-up of NAIA top 25 teams.
Concordia, ranked No. 16 in the NAIA, scored three goals in the second half to win the game.
Gabrielle Arnone scored the lone goal for The Master’s College, ranked No. 11 in the NAIA, in the first half.
In hockey, the Kings beat the visiting Ottawa Senators, 4-3, in overtime. Jeff Carter scored the game-winner 28 seconds into the overtime period. He and Dustin Brown each had two goals in the game.
In baseball, the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-1, in Game 5 of the National League Division Series.
Adam Wainright pitched a complete game giving up one run on eight hits for the Cardinals. Matt Adams hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the Cardinals a 5-1 lead.
The Cardinals advance to the National League Championship Series against the Dodgers. Zack Greinke will start Game 1 for the Dodgers in St. Louis on Friday night.
