Valencia High’s Alison Lee shot a 3-over 75 in the first round of the US Women’s Open golf tournament at Blackwolf Run in Wisconsin.

She is tied for 55th place and had two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey on the first day of the tournament.

Lizette Salas, Brittany Lincicome and Cristie Kerr are tied for first place after the first round. They each shot 3-under 69s.

In soccer, the Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the visiting Colorado Rush.

Ana Borges gave the Blue Heat a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 75th minute. But the Rush tied the score when a deflected pass off a corner kick went off a Blue Heat defender and into the goal in the 83rd minute.

Blue Heat goalkeeper Cynthia Jacobo made six saves.

The Blue Heat take the field again on Saturday against the Colorado Rapids at Valencia High School.

In auto racing, Bryan Herta Autosport is looking to rebound in Toronto after a frustrating race at Iowa Speedway.

Alex Tagliani, driving for the team owned by Valencia’s Bryan Herta, was 16th in the Izod IndyCar Series race at Iowa Speedway. It broke a string a three top-10 finishes in a row for Bryan Herta Autosport.

Tagliani has a pair of podium finishes at the Toronto street course. He has never won the race though, his highest finish being a runner-up. The Honda Indy Toronto is set to start on Sunday at 12:30.

In volleyball, Saugus High graduate David Smith was selected to the United States Olympic team and will compete in the London Summer Games.

Smith, a 6-foot-7 middle blocker, played volleyball and soccer at Saugus High. He graduated in 2003.

The USA men’s volleyball team won the gold medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

The Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks, 4-1, and have a little three-game winning streak all of a sudden.

Elian Herrera and Scott Van Slyke hit solo home runs. Mark Ellis returned from the disabled list and went 2-for-4 with a double and scored a run.

The Dodgers play the Diamondbacks again tonight. Listen to the game on AM 1220, KHTS. First pitch is at 6:40 p.m.
