Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 01, 2015 – Hart High graduate Mike Montgomery is making quite a rookie debut.
The left-hander for the Mariners took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and shut out the San Diego Padres, 5-0. Montgomery tossed a one-hitter and pitched his second shutout in a row.
He struck out seven, walked four and hit a batter. He gave up his only hit with one out in the seventh inning.
Montgomery tossed a five-hitter against the Kansas City Royals for this first career shutout.
He has six major league starts and is 3-2 with the Mariners.
In other action in the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-4 in extra innings. The Dodgers scored two runs in the 10th inning to take the lead.
Yasmani Grandal drove in the go-ahead runs in the 10th. He also homered and drove in four runs in the game.
The Dodgers and Diamondbacks are back on the field tonight. Brett Anderson starts for the Dodgers against Robbie Ray for the Diamondbacks.
First pitch is at 6:40.
