Santa Clarita Sports Report: July 08, 2015 – Two baseball players from the Foothill League were selected to the Cal-Hi Sports All-State Underclass team.
Hart’s Robert Reeves and Valencia’s Scott Ogrin were selected to the first team.
Zach Britton, the Baltimore Orioles closer who played for Canyon High, is going to the All Star game for the American League.
He was selected as an All Star reserve by manager Ned Yost.
Britton has 23 saves, good for second in the American League, and has a 1.82 ERA.
The All Star Game is in Cincinnati on Tuesday.
On the field, the Dodgers lost to the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-2. Chad Billingsley won his first game in more than two years. He gave up two runs on six hits in six innings.
Yasmani Grandal hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning for the Dodgers only runs.
The Dodgers and Phillies are back on the field again tonight. Clayton Kershaw starts for the Dodgers against Adam Morgan for the Phillies.
First pitch is at 7:10.
