A grand opening and ribbon cutting is planned Monday afternoon at the new home of the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association in the Westfield Valencia Town Center.
The public is invited to come explore the artist’s new digs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 24251 Town Center Drive, next to Pottery Barn. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served and guests will enjoy music by violinist Miyuki Christina.
The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association was founded in 1989 by a group of local artists who had a desire to share their expertise, knowledge, and enthusiasm for art; members have a broad range of talent from professional to novice. An ongoing exchange of information and expertise allows the group to encourage, assist, develop, and exchange ideas and information in building on artistic skills.
Over the last 22 years, the association has called a variety of places home, including storefronts on Main Street (then San Fernando Road) in Newhall and on Bouquet Canyon Road in Saugus and a comfortable yellow house in Newhall. In each location, members of the art association made visitors feel welcome and were eager to share their knowledge and appreciation for the arts.
The group’s mission is to promote art in the Santa Clarita Valley by “Making Visual Art Visible” and they do that by offering community outreach programs. Their annual Art Classic in the fall raises awareness and funds scholarships for art students in high school and college in Santa Clarita.
Members can also take advantage of exhibit space at select locations around town, which now includes the place they will call home.
