[LASD] – Special Victims Bureau detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the attempted rape of a 19-year-old woman which occurred inside her home. A suspect has been arrested.The victim was asleep Saturday at 5:50 a.m. when she was awakened by noises inside her home in the 27500 block of Sierra Highway, Santa Clarita.
She walked out of her bedroom and found the suspect standing in her living room. When the victim told the suspect to leave, he responded by punching her in the face. The suspect then placed the victim in a bear hug and told her that he was going to rape her.
The victim began fighting back and as he began dragging the victim towards her bedroom, she screamed for help. The startled suspect released his hold on her and the victim was able to run out of her apartment and call for help.
The suspect fled from the location prior to the arrival of deputies.
During their on-scene investigation, deputies were able to identify the suspect and located him in nearby Saugus.
Deputies arrested suspect Adan Martinez, a 34 year-old resident of Santa Clarita, without incident. He was booked at Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station on charges of attempted rape and burglary, with bail set at $100,000.00
The victim sustained minor injuries during the assault. She was treated at a local hospital and released.
