The 2015 Santa Clarita Valley Man and Woman of the Year presented their donations to three nonprofits Wednesday during an on-air interview at KHTS AM-1220’s new studio in Newhall.
“This is money raised from the event that the Man and Woman of the Year can give to their specific charities,” said Sue Endress, the 2015 SCV Woman of the Year.
Endress split her donation between the SCV Valley Senior Center, which she has been helping for 35 years, and the Santa Clarita Valley Rotary Club, which she has been involved with for more than 10 years.
Endress donated $1,000 to each charity. Rotary Club President Lou Esbin and the Senior Center, director of supportive services, SuzAnn Nelson, accepted the checks on behalf of the charities.
The 2015 SCV Man of the Year, Leon Worden, presented a $2,000 check to Dr. Alan Pollack, president of the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society, which nominated Worden for the honor.

“I’ve been involved with the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society for a number of years, and honestly I have a lot of favorite charities because there is so much in this community that would not happen if it weren’t for our charities,” Worden said. “We’re a community built on charities.”
“The real prize for Sue and for me is the fact that we get to organize next year’s Man and Woman of the Year event,” he said.
“We’re very excited, very excited,” Endress added.
The $4,000 in total donations represents the proceeds from the 2015 SCV Man and Woman of the Year event, which was held May 1 at the Hyatt Valencia.
