Saugus Union School District announced Mountainview Elementary’s Jayme Rutter as the 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Rutter has been teaching second grade at Mountainview for 11 years; she has been with SUSD for 12 years.
“Mrs. Rutter personifies everything we look for in a teacher,” said Dr. Joan Lucid, Superintendent of the Saugus Union School District. “She is a teacher who captivates everyone she comes in contact with and engages her students in learning in a way that makes it both fun and fulfilling. We are so pleased for her and her students.”
She was selected by principals and administrators of SUSD in a meeting earlier this week.
“It is always a great day for us when selecting the Teacher of the Year,” said Judy Umeck, President of the SUSD Governing Board. “We are tremendously proud to have a teacher like Mrs. Rutter who exemplifies all our amazing teachers who educate and encourage each of our students in Saugus Union School District.”
The District will honor Mrs. Rutter with a reception at a future governing board meeting.
The Saugus Union School District serves the Santa Clarita communities of Saugus, Valencia and Canyon Country with 15 elementary schools for 11,000 students.
