In honor of National Hispanic Month, College of the Canyons is excited to welcome the internationally acclaimed Orquesta De Baja California to the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons for an exclusive performance of “Jalisco to the Baja.” at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20.
“College of the Canyons is incredibly lucky to be able to host these prestigious artists from Mexico, even if only for a single night,” said Evy Warshawski, PAC Executive Director. “As one of only two presenting organizations on this tour, we hope the community will enjoy an eclectic repertoire of music performed by our neighbors from the south.”
12-year-old prodigy Daniela Liebman
Leading the 35-member Mexican orchestra will be renowned guitarist and guest conductor Angel Romero, who will be joined by special guest 12-year-old Daniela Liebman, the youngest pianist from Mexico to have ever played with the OBC at Carnegie Hall in New York.
Since its formation under Masters Juan Echeverria and Eduardo Garcia Barrios in 1990, the OBC has captivated audiences with its wide range of musical composition and performance bravado.
The group’s PAC concert will be no different, as arrangements will span from European heavyweights such as Beethoven and Chopin to contemporary Mexican icons Juan Pablo Moncayo and Arturo Marquez.
The event is exclusive, and ticket sales are limited, so patrons are encouraged to act accordingly before missing out on this multicultural music experience.
This program has been possible thanks to support from the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF) and the National Endowment for the Arts.
