On Sept. 29, the Old Town Newhall Library turns one year old. To celebrate, the City of Santa Clarita and Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library invite community members to enjoy a free birthday celebration on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring a variety of activities for residents of all ages.
“Since the day we opened the doors, children, teachers, students, parents, and community groups have embraced the library as the place to meet, to share a book, a conversation, and to collaborate,” commented Mayor Bob Kellar. “This one year celebration is not only to commemorate our anniversary, but to thank our community for making it such a memorable first year.”
The one year anniversary celebration will include:
* The Hattie and Harvey Show at 11 a.m. – Experience a fun and comedic show featuring Doug Hoover as the magician “Hattie” and his kooky sidekick, Harvey.*
* Birthday Cake at noon – Enjoy delicious birthday cake while supplies last.
* Birthday Story Time with special guests at 12:30 p.m. – The fun continues with stories read by local dignitaries.
* Birthday Craft Activities from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Attendees will have the opportunity to create birthday-themed crafts.
Additionally, patrons who attend the celebration and check out materials with their FREE Santa Clarita Public Library card will be entered into a raffle to win one of two NEW Kindle Paper White e-reader. The drawing will close at 5:00 p.m. and winners will be notified by Monday, September 30, 2013.
