crimezone8[KHTS] Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are searching for a man who allegedly robbed two women at gunpoint at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Saturday night.

Two female employees were leaving work at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 when they were approached by a man, said Shirley Miller, public information officer for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“As they were walking to their car, they were confronted by a male, white, approximately 30 to 35 years old,” Miller said, noting that the man was wearing all black.

The victims told deputies that the man reached inside his jacket, where they saw a black handgun.

The man demanded that the victims hand over their purses and cellphones, and he fled the location, said Miller.

“There were no injuries reported, and Sheriff’s deputies have not been able to find him,” Miller said.

Taylor Harding, a Wokcano Valencia employee says that although she works late into the night, she has to park in the designated employee parking area, which she says is a far walk.

Harding says they have the option to call security but it takes a while for them to get to the employees.

Wokcano Valencia is open until 2 a.m every night, meaning employees could be walking to their cars close to 3 a.m.

Harding had her own scare the same Saturday night the robbing took place.

“This guy came in while I was working and left me a note about how he wanted to give me a massage,” Harding said. “He was asking other employees which nights I work.”

When Harding finished her shift she walked to her car with another employee and was approached by the same man who had asked about her.

“I looked up and he was standing in front of me wearing sunglasses, a scarf and a hat,” Harding said. “He grabbed my hand and started to say something about giving me a massage.”

Harding and the other young female employee ran away and called mall security.

“Mall security talked to the guy and told him that he had to leave,” Harding said. “I just got in my car and drove away, I didn’t want him to know what kind of car I drive.”

Samantha Smith, a Valencia Lucille’s Bar-B-Que employee said the employees try to walk in pairs to their cars when it’s late.

Smith also echoed Harding’s feelings on waiting for security, saying “they take a long time to get to employees.”

Lucille’s is open until 12 a.m., meaning employees might not be off and leaving until 1 a.m.

“Employees can call security at any time and they will escort them to their cars,” said Stacy House, the marketing director for the Valencia Westfield Town Center. “The safety, comfort and security of our guests and employees is paramount, and always a priority for Westfield.

“Although we do not disclose specific information regarding deployment, levels and methods, the types of measures we employ in a comprehensive security plan include uniformed and plain clothes personnel, foot and vehicle patrols, electronic surveillance and importantly, working closely and constantly with local and regional law enforcement and public safety officials,” House said. “The parking structure and all exterior parking areas are illuminated 24-hours a day with a combination of conventional and emergency lighting.”

On Friday and Saturday nights, the Valencia Town Center is open until 10 p.m.

I was taught not to do anything in that situation, it might have been because I was a minor at the time I worked retail, but I was taught not to do anything because of lawsuits etc. but yet again it might be because I was a minor but yeah.

  5. Them thinking Ken is a girl could be a good thing. He’d be an exceptionally strong girl.

I hope Mall security got the ID and/or a photo of the fellow who tried to latch on to Taylor Harding. Just telling that guy to leave is not quite enough.
