Joshua Robertson and Brittney Humphrey
A man and woman who were on the run last month with three children whose mother was found dead in Gorman have been charged with murder.
Brittney Humphrey, 22, and Joshua Aaron Robertson, 27, were charged with the murder of Humphrey’s stepsister, Kimberly Harvill.
Harvill’s body was found in a remote area on August 14.The complaint alleges Robertson personally and intentionally discharged a firearm, a handgun. He also is charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a felon with two prior convictions.
The couple also are charged with kidnapping the murder victim’s three young children, ages 5, 3 and 2. The children were found safe in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 24. Humphrey and Robertson were arrested a day later in Colorado.
Robertson is due to be arraigned sometime today in Department 30 at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. Prosecutors will ask that bail be set at $2 million. Humphrey is awaiting extradition following her arrest in Colorado.
Deputy District Attorneys Deanne Castorena and Tal Kahana with the Child Abduction Unit are prosecuting the case.
If convicted, each defendant faces up to life in state prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
