U.S. News and World Report’s “2016 Best Colleges” ranking placed TMC third among liberal arts colleges in the Western Region, up from fifth place last year. TMC is one of 363 institutions across the nation in the “Regional College” category, and one of 31 ranked regional colleges in the West.
U.S. News’ annual report ranks colleges based on a number of factors, including freshmen retention rate, class size, student-to-faculty ratio and graduation rate, among other things.
In addition to the overall ranking, TMC placed well in the following Western Region categories:
1st – Freshman-to-sophomore retention rate (82 percent)
4th – Average six-year graduation rate (62 percent)
4th – Most international students
5th – Entering freshmen SAT scores (1080)
5th – Least debt (class of 2014)
6th – Best value school
Notably, the four colleges that ranked higher than TMC in the “least debt” category were public institutions, making TMC the top private college in this category.
In addition, TMC continues to attract an academically strong and ethnically diverse student population. Currently, the College’s international students hail from nearly 40 different countries and bring their unique perspectives and experiences to the campus community.
U.S. News’ “2016 Best Colleges Guidebook” is scheduled to be released later in September. The 2016 edition marks the 17th year in a row that TMC has been ranked by U.S. News and World Report. For more information, visit www.masters.edu or call 1-800-568-6248.
