Unfortunately our Sheriffs do a great job at catching them, but our justice dept. just slaps them on the wrist and puts them back on the street. Maybe he’ll learn from this. Next time he might not luck out with just a homeowners camera pointed at him.

You are half right on this. We as residents of SCV have zero tolerance for this and I agree with you 100%. Unfortunately our justice dept. doesn’t feel the same way. This guy is POS and contributes nothing to society. He’s been arrested numerous times and gets a slap on the wrist for it. What happened to you commit a crime you do the time. Not anymore. Yet if he broke into my house in the middle of the night and I shot him I’d be looking at doing time. WTF is the world coming to.

Deputies ID suspect in Castaic standoff

The young man arrested in Castaic in connection with Wednesday’s four-hour standoff with local sheriff’s deputies had been arrested on drug charges last month, and the month before that, records indicate.
Christopher Thomas Marchetti, 23, of Zion Court in Castaic, was charged with burglary after heavily armed deputies of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station entered his mother’s home shortly before noon Wednesday, ending a four-hour standoff.
Marchetti, a mechanic who attended Valencia High School, remained in custody Thursday with bail set at $312,500.
He was arrested in connection with a burglary Monday during which a semiautomatic handgun was stolen, sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.
Because he was a suspect in the handgun burglary, sheriff’s deputies acted on the belief that he was in possession of the handgun when they spotted his car in the driveway of his mother’s home on Zion Court.
They asked him to come out of the house at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, but it four hours later when he was led shoeless from the house by armed deputies.
Marchetti was arrested July 11 and charged with possessing a controlled substance.
He had been arrested exactly one month prior to that, on June 11, and charged with the same felony offense.
In June, his bail was set at $21,000. In July, his bail was $10,000.
According to the sheriff’s booking log, Marchetti was released about 1:30 p.m. on June 12, the day he was arrested the first time. He was released within 13 hours after his second arrest on July 11.
Arresting officers listed each of the possession charges as a felony offense which would carry a sentence of 16 months to three years in state prison upon conviction.
Marchetti was scheduled each time to appear in Newhall Municipal Court 48 hours after his arrest on each of the possession cases.
A conviction for burglary carries a sentence of up to six years in state prison.
Anyone else have a problem with locking him up and throwing away the key? I sure as heck don’t. They say our jails are crowded, hmmmmm why is that ??? Could it be we’ve become soft in society? If we actually put people to death for murder we’d have more room and if we stopped locking good citizens up for defending their home and protecting their family as well. As of right now if you shot an intruder you may face jail time and all your legal registered weapons would be seized, as if you were the problem. No I was sleeping due to I have work the next day. California needs to pull its head out of its you know what.
