ThursdaysNewhallSliderThursdays@Newhall’s final “10 by 10” variety night of the winter season promises an exciting lineup of talent for their last winter session.

Ten selected artists will take the stage on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, and perform within a ten minute time limit.

The evening will begin with The New Mexican, the one-man country blues band. Members of The New Mexican are a right foot on drums, a left foot on percussion, a left hand on slide guitar and banjo, a right hand on lead guitar and banjo, and a mouth on vocals and harmonica.

Following the New Mexican will be storyteller Oscar Sagastume with his act “Always and Forever.”
Sagastume is a stand-up comedian, writer, actor and protagonist living in Los Angeles. He has performed across the country and has hosted shows at the House of Blues, Disneyland, the Rose Bowl and more.

Then, comic, impressionist, poet and actor Howard Aronin will take the stage to bring the laughs. An ongoing member of “A Million Laughs,” Aronin is an in-house host and performer at Flappers Comedy Club.

The fourth performer to entertain the 10 by 10 crowd will be Lahela Garner, actress, singer and songwriter, accompanied by her ukulele.

Following Garner will be award-winning storyteller, coach and speaker, Michael Kass, with his act “A Modest Proposal.”
His award-winning solo show, “Ceremony,” has toured nationally, and his coaching and consulting practice, StoryImpact, helps clients discover and harness the power of their stories to create change.

The sixth act will be a film short entitled “Rosita Lopez for President” by director Rachel Goldberg. Goldberg earned her MFA in Directing for Film, Theatre and Television from the California Institute of the Arts, and created the award-winning short film, “Neighbors.”

Then, Adi Gordan, actor, comedian, writer, director and marketing professional will take to the stage with hilarious stand-up. Recently seen at the KC Fringe Festival, Gordan has performed in venues all over the country and is a member of Stitch Tactics Improv Troupe.

Rounding out the eighth spot of the evening, singer and songwriter Abel Gallardo, front man of The Buckhenries, will share a rare acoustic performance.

Victoria Sayeg, freelance writer, poet, director and producer, will share the poem she opened the 2014 Buddy Wakefield World Tour with, “Moonstone.” Sayeg is a long-time lyricist for the pop-punk band Stay Gone, and co-wrote the film “Refuel” which won an IndieFEST Award of Merit.

Comedian and musician Shawn G. will finish off the evening with his wit and sardonic observation. Shawn G. has appeared on The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Later with Carson Daly, The Fred Roggin Show and MTV.

The event will take place at the Repertory East Playhouse, located at 24266 Main Street.
