June is the perfect month to check out shows at The MAIN, located at 24266 Main Street, in Old Town Newhall. Tickets are now on sale for a variety of theatre, comedy and music shows. Adult beverages will also be available for purchase at select shows, in addition to concessions.

The 10 by 10 Variety Night occurs on the first Thursday of the month and features music, film, storytelling, magic, comedy and more! Ten performers, from a variety of genres, are selected to perform a 10-minute piece of their choosing. This month don’t miss comedian Jann Karam, whose numerous TV credits include “The Tonight Show,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” HBO’s “Young Comedians Special,” “The Arsenio Hall Show,” “Seinfeld” and “Politically Incorrect.” That same evening, catch a performance by Argentine tango dancers Madeline Conroy and Paul Blinder, who were finalists at the Southern California Tango Championships in 2018. The show is on Thursday, June 6 at 7:00 p.m. and is free to attend.

Comedy Mashup will be back at The MAIN on Friday, June 7 at 8:00 p.m. This show features a group of working comedians and improvisers from all over Los Angeles that come together once a month to put on a show that is half stand-up comedy and half improv. Headlining this month is Dino Archie, who has appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and Season 3 of Adam Devine’s “House Party” on Comedy Central. He was also crowned the winner of the 36th annual Seattle International Comedy Competition. Also performing are Mike Masilotti, Jay Cruz and show host Nolan Culver. Rounding out the show is hilarious improv from “Your Favorite Cast.” Tickets are $10 presale, and $15 on the day of the show.

The Society Comedy Troupe is bringing a hilarious and energetic team improv show to The MAIN on Saturday, June 8 at 8:00 p.m. Similar to the TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” the performers ask for audience participation while creating improvised music, comedy and scenes. This month, they are celebrating Best Friend’s Day with a show all about friends. Grab your friends for an evening of laughs at this show that’s appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $15.

The first of many productions at The MAIN this month is “The Wild Duck” from Menagerie Theatre Works. Henrik Ibsen’s classic play is set in the 1950s in the United States and follows the Ekdal family in their struggle with deep family secrets, societal expectations and the image of the perfect family. Performances occur on June 14, 15 and 16, at 7:00 p.m., and June 15 and 16, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $20.
Join The Dumas Players for their original show, “The Grieving Widows’ Auxiliary: Parts I and II.” Part I, The Bait, is Saturday, June 22, at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Part II, The Engagement, is Sunday, June 23, at 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The show follows the ladies of the Grieving Widows’ Auxiliary, a group of aging but spunky widows who meet monthly to help one another through the grieving process, while also plotting to snag their next husband by any means necessary. With the help of obituary columns, these ladies take turns attending the funerals of random women in an effort to wiggle their way into the good graces of the surviving widowers. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for students and seniors.
Note by Note is a free music night delighting audiences with a variety of genres. Bands, duos and soloists will perform a wide range of styles, including rock, folk, Celtic, Americana, blues, jazz, country, experimental, western and more! The show is on Thursday, June 27, at 7:00 p.m., and is free to attend.

Rounding out the month is Violent Ends Theater Company’s production of “Red.” Viewed through the lens of his youthful new assistant, Ken, we witness artist Mark Rothko at the pinnacle of his creativity, but struggling through the creation of a series of large paintings, commissioned as a series intended to be featured in New York’s brand-new Four Seasons Restaurant. As Ken and Rothko paint, they challenge each other to ask big questions about art: what it takes to create it and what its role should be in the world. Set in the 1950s, and based on a series of real events, “Red” takes a compelling look at the ever-changing relationship between an artist and his creations. This play is not suitable for children under the age of 13. Performances occur on June 28 and 29 at 8:00 p.m. and June 30 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15.
