1900 - Pico oil driller Alex Mentry (as in Mentryville) succumbs to typhoid fever at California Hospital in Los Angeles [story]
Alex Mentry

Whether you prefer the heart-stirring twang of a country song, the hilarity of talented animals or the heavy beat of a drum, the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons has exactly what you need for an unforgettable afternoon or evening out on the town.

The 2015-16 PAC Season features something for everyone. And with headliners like the classic rock band Kansas, the Nashville-based super group The Time Jumpers, country music great John Michael Montgomery and the rock power trio Los Lonely Boys all set to play the PAC this season, local music lovers will want to make sure they secure their seats early.

Individual tickets for all 2015-16 PAC Season shows will go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 15.

Patrons can purchase their tickets in person at the PAC Box Office (located at the venue), over the phone at (661) 362-5304 or online at www.canyonsPAC.com.

The PAC season kicks off with a pre-concert Opening Night Celebration Dinner followed by a live performance by Kansas on Saturday, Sept. 12 — providing patrons with an opportunity to combine their passion for great food and stellar entertainment.

Known for timeless hit singles like “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind,” this powerhouse rock band has served as a lifelong soundtrack for multiple generations of music lovers. They’ve played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, now fans can hear them in the intimate surroundings of the PAC.

Hot on the heels of Kansas comes Nashville — or rather the talent-filled super group from Nashville known as The Time Jumpers.

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, The Time Jumpers — featuring Vince Gill, Kenny Sears and Ranger Doug Green — will take part in a special pre-concert ‘Wine Down Wednesday’ meet-and-greet event benefitting the PAC’s K-12 Arts Education Outreach Program.

Looking ahead to the second half of the season, Los Lonely Boys will bring its bluesy rock ‘n’ roll and rustic acoustic textures to the PAC on Saturday, Feb. 27.

Later in the spring, country music mainstay John Michael Montgomery will help kick off the City of Santa Clarita’s annual Cowboy Festival with an intimate PAC performance on Sunday, April 17. Montogomery’s fans will also be able to rub elbows with the artist during a special pre-concert barbecue bonanza and artist meet-and-greet.

Admission to the Opening Night Celebration, ‘Wine Down Wednesday’ and ‘Barbeque Bonanza’ events do not include show tickets.

Also included among the acts slated to perform during the COC Presents portion of the 2015-16 season are Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat,” the Golden Dragon Acrobats, Room on the Broom, TAO: Seventeen Samurai, Stunt Dog Experience, and the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West.

In addition, the PAC will also offer a number of lively community performances from ESCAPE Theatre, Santa Clarita Ballet, Santa Clarita Master Chorale and Santa Clarita Regional Theatre.

The COC theatre, dance and music departments will also stage performances throughout the season, offering community members the chance to see the stars of tomorrow shine on stage today.

With so many enticingly diverse shows being offered this season don’t wait to add the PAC to your ‘to-do’ list.
