The Master’s College Athletic Department has released the 2012-13 women’s basketball schedule.
“Our schedule will prepare us for the conference season,” women’s head coach Dan Waldeck states. “We have a good non-conference schedule where we’ll play two NCAA D-1 exhibitions and then we’ll be up at a tournament in Utah. Our first six games start out in a gauntlet that will prepare us for the main piece of the season.”
The first portion of the Lady Mustangs’ pre-season slate begins with two exhibition road games against NCAA Division I schools. The Mustangs will travel to Cal State Northridge on Friday, November 2, for a game against the Matadors and then play the following day at Loyola Marymount. From there, Coach Waldeck and his squad will venture north to Salt Lake City, Utah, to open the regular season in the 2012 Westminster Fall Classic.
Finally, the Mustangs will have a chance to display their refined talent in front of a home audience on Friday, November 16, when they host CSU San Marcos in Bross Gymnasium.
Almost two months after their home opener, the Lady Mustangs will begin conference play in the always-tough Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC). Commenting on the squad’s conference opponents, Waldeck states, “ the GSAC will be tough again, but our schedule will prepare us to be good at our best time.”
The Lady Mustangs went 12-19 in the 2011-12 campaign, finishing 5-13 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
“I’m cautiously optimistic that we can have a solid season and firmly believe our schedule will prepare us for that. We’re just going to need to put in the work.”
