Twenty-six years after Chris Beck left the diamond and etched his name in The Master’s University baseball program’s record books, his son, Jackson, will take the field for the Mustangs in 2020.

The 6-foot-5 freshman has an opportunity to make an impact for the Mustangs both in the field and on the mound.

“He’s really physical with baseball acumen,” said TMU baseball coach Monte Brooks. “I expect him to be a big contributor for our program over the next four years.”

Beck, a Lebanon, Ohio, product, is very enthusiastic about attending Master’s.

“I chose TMU because there is no better place on Earth where I can get a great education, further my athletic career, and become a better man and Christian than here,” said Beck. “I am excited to meet fellow believers and make lifelong friends. I look forward to playing freely on the baseball field and to give all the praise to Jesus.”

Beck’s father, Chris, played for the Mustangs from 1991-94, putting up prodigious numbers and earning a spot in The Master’s University Athletic Hall of Fame.

Chris is the third-winningest pitcher in program history with 28 wins. His 340 strikeouts and 349 1/3 innings pitched are second all-time while his 20 complete games rank him third. His career ERA of 3.35 is good for a tie for seventh.

The younger Beck is focused on improving one day at a time.

Asked about his collegiate goals, Jackson said, “To be the best athlete and man I can be on and off the field.”

Last year’s Mustangs went 34-17-1 overall and finished fourth in the GSAC with a 20-12 conference record.
