topperspizza[KHTS] – Toppers Pizza Place is set to open its new Canyon Country location off of Soledad Canyon Road this November.

“Were looking at the middle of November now,” said Evan Jonker, owner of Toppers Pizza Place in Valencia and Canyon Country.

The new restaurant will have a similar look and feel to it as its Valencia counterpart. Pictures of the history of Santa Clarita, provided by the Santa Clarita Historical Society, will line the walls of the new location, Jonker said.

The new location will be located at 18417 Soledad Canyon Road, the former Homes and Land Bank building.

“It was a massive undertaking taking a bank and turning it into a restaurant,” Jonker said. “We were left with really tall ceilings and a unique layout for a restaurant.”

The biggest different between the new store and the old is an expanded patio, much larger than the one at the Valencia location, said Jonker.

“The main obstacles were just how much work went into the construction of the restaurant,” Jonker said. “We basically had to redo everything. We left three walls. A new roof, a new parking lot, it was basically built from the ground up. It was quite expensive.”

They store is currently hiring for every position in the store, having already hired some people who are currently working at the Valencia location.

“We’re gonna be able to build up a crew and train them (at the Valencia location) before moving them to the new store,” Jonker said.

Since opening their Valencia restaurant in January 2014, Toppers Pizza Place has won The Signal’s “Best of Santa Clarita” award for “Best Pizza” two years in a row.

Their Canyon Country restaurant will be Toppers Pizza Place’s ninth location.

About Toppers Pizza Place

Toppers Pizza Place started in Ventura County 20 years ago by Vim and Beth Jonker, according to the website.

Since then, Toppers has expanded to nine locations, seven in Ventura County and two in the Santa Clarita Valley.

They have been voted best pizza by the Ventura County Star Newspaper for both the east and west county.

The Santa Clarita Valley restaurants are currently overseen by Vim and Beth’s son Evan, who partnered with his parents back in 2014 to bring Toppers out of Ventura County.
