LANCASTER – The University of Antelope Valley Pioneers cruised to a victory Saturday afternoon, defeating the Cubs of the University of Los Angeles College of Divinity, 96-71, in intercollegiate men’s basketball exhibition action inside the Pioneer Event Center in Lancaster.
Junior center Deividas Mockaitis (Kaunas, Lithuania) and senior guard Miles Nolen-Webb (San Diego, CA) led the Pioneers with 15 points each and junior forward Kane Keil (Auckland, New Zealand) added 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and one block.
Senior forward Christian Drayton (Lufkin, TX) scored 11 points and grabbed 11 boards while also adding three assists, one block and one steal, junior guard Chris Johnson (Los Angeles, CA) also contributed 11 points to go along with nine rebounds, four assists and one steal, and junior forward Justin Snavely (San Bernardino, CA) poured in 10 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
UAV hit 36-of-74 field goals (.486), 7-of-21 three-pointers (.333), 17-of-27 free throws (.630), and outrebounded the Cubs, 56-26. UAV committed 17 turnovers and stole the ball six times. ULACD made 21-of-68 shots (.309), 10-of-27 three-pointers (.370) and 19-of-25 free throws (.760) and committed 11 turnovers and stole the ball from UAV six times.
NEXT GAME: Coached by Darwin Cook, the Pioneers hit the road to face off with No. 18-ranked Dakota Wesleyan University in a neutral-site contest on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 4 p.m. PST in Las Vegas, Nev.
