PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The Bruins placed eighth (+30, 894) in this weekend’s The Hayt at the Sawgrass Country Club. UCLA closed with a final-round 295 (+7), its best round of the tournament.
A pair of Bruins finished inside the Top 25, as freshman Cole Madey was the top scorer for UCLA at T-19 (+5, 221). Madey shot a 2-over 74 on Sunday, making birdies on the fourth and eighth to go with four bogeys. Garrick fired an even-par 72 to finish in a tie for 22nd at 6-over (222). He birdied the sixth and the 10th, while making a pair of bogeys.
Senior Lorens Chan was the next-best finisher for the Bruins at T-40 (+11, 227). He shot a 2-over 74 in his final round, making birdies on the eighth, 10th and 18th to go with three bogeys and a double bogey. Sophomore Corey Shaun was 3-over (75) in his last round to place in a tie for 51st (+13, 229). He birdied his eighth and ninth holes to go with two bogeys and a triple. Freshman Phil Delisi tied for 62nd (+16, 232) after a final-round 76 (+4), with birdies on the 11th and 14th, a bogey, a double and a triple.
A trio of Bruins, senior Reilly McMahon, sophomore Brandon Mai and freshman Patrick Murphy, will be participating in the TMC Spring Invitational, taking place on Monday and Tuesday at Robinson Ranch Golf Course in Santa Clarita. No live scoring will be available, but recaps will be posted to UCLABruins.com following the conclusion of each day’s play.
