Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit
Zone 5-Valencia had nineteen Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The criminal incidents included a residential burglary, vehicle burglaries and shoplifting from local businesses.
A residential burglary occurred on the 23800 block of Via Jacara between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Items stolen were a 35 inch television and two expensive tote bags. Santa Clarita Station Detectives are investigating this crime.
Three vehicle burglaries occurred in various areas of Valencia during the week between the hours of 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm. One occurred on the 24800 block of Newhall Avenue. The victim parked her vehicle in a car port and left her purse and personal belongings underneath the driver side seat. Entry and exit was made by smashing the front passenger window with an unknown object. A second burglary occurred on the 25700 block of Player Drive. The victim left a passenger window cracked open with enough room to obtain access into the vehicle. Items stolen were a wallet and sunglasses left in the center console area. A third vehicle was burglarized while parked at a school parking lot on the 26400 block of Rockwell Canyon Road. The victim left her purse on the floor board visible from the outside of the vehicle.
With the holiday shopping approaching, I urge everyone to please take careful steps to not become a victim. If you are shopping at night, try and park your vehicles in well-lit areas. Be mindful of your surroundings. Take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle or secure items in locked trunks.
Remember to roll up all windows and lock doors before walking away from your vehicle. Do not leave valuables such as purses, wallets or cell phones unattended in public areas like shopping carts, benches or counters. If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121.
There were eight arrests made this past week by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area. Arrests included warrants, violations of probation, drunk in public, and numerous shoplifting from local businesses.
