[Scott Wilk for Assembly] – The California Small Business Association has endorsed College of the Canyons Board of Trustee Scott Wilk to replace Assemblyman Cameron Smyth for the 38th Assembly District seat. Smyth is vacating the seat due to term limits.

“We believe that Scott Wilk’s commitment to the future of small business is deserving of the support of our organization. He will do a great job representing small business in the State Assembly,” said CSBA President Betty Jo Toccoli.

The California Small Business Association represents over 203,000 California small business owners. It is a non-partisan, small business advocacy group that provides a voice for California small businesses and works to stimulate the creation of jobs and the economy of California. “I’m honored to have the endorsement of the California Small Business Association. Small businesses employ the largest percentage of our State workers and we need them to be successful for our state to recover,” stated Wilk.

Wilk is a small business owner, and has previously worked as Chief of Staff for Assembly members Tom McClintock and Paula Boland. He was recently re-elected to his second term on the Santa Clarita Community College Board of Trustees after being appointed in 2006 and elected in 2007.

[Edward Headington for Assembly] – The influential Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) has endorsed candidate Edward Headington to replace Assemblyman Cameron Smyth in the 38th Assembly District Seat. Smyth is vacating the seat due to term limits.

Tyler Izen – LAPPL “Edward Headington has demonstrated a firm understanding of public safety and what state lawmakers need to do in order to keep our communities safe,” said LAPPL president Tyler Izen, a resident of the 38th Assembly District. “Headington recognizes the importance of prioritizing public safety, and as a police officer, I trust him to be a champion of public safety in the legislature.”

The LAPPL consists of more than 9,000 rank and file police officers serving in the L.A. Police Department, many of whom reside and raise families in the 38th Assembly District.

“It is an honor to receive the support of an organization that represents thousands of brave men and women who keep our families safe and put their lives at risk for us every day,” said Headington. “I am proud to stand for improving public safety, and I am committed to putting politics aside in order to address the serious public safety challenges confronting the 38th district.”

Headington, a small business owner, continues to pick up support from organizations that traditionally have gone to Republican candidates in this district, including former L.A. Mayor and CA Education Secretary Richard Riordan and L.A. City Councilmember Mitch Englander-who was a top aide to the late Assemblyman Keith Richman, a Republican who represented the 38th District prior to Smyth. Like the LAPPL, both Riordan and Englander supported Smyth and Richman campaigns over the years.
