Assemblyman Scott Wilk announced Monday that he has honored Tami Edwards, a resident of Santa Clarita, as the Woman of the Year for the 38^th Assembly District.

Each year, the Legislative Women’s Caucus hosts the Women of the Year ceremony to celebrate and highlight California’s extraordinary women. Established in 1987 to commemorate Women’s History Month, the event has become an annual Capitol tradition to salute community service. Honorees are recognized for their outstanding contributions during a special ceremony in the Assembly chambers.

“Tami’s passion and commitment to serving our community through volunteer efforts have continually made a positive impact on the Santa Clarita Valley,” siad Wilk, R-Santa Clarita. “She’s used her SCVTV show – SCV Today – as a platform to highlight various non-profits and to make residents aware of the many challenges faced in the community. I am pleased to honor her as the 38^th Assembly District’s Woman of the Year.”

Tami was born and raised in the Santa Clarita Valley and devotes much of her time and energy to our community. A mother of four and a Realtor with HomeSmart, Tami is a leader in the Santa Clarita Valley community. She has offered her time over the years to numerous organizations such as the Circle for Hope, through which she currently serves as an Executive Board Member, the Hart District Advisory Committee, the Castaic Little League Board of Directors, and SCVTV, a local nonprofit community television station through which she has created and produced a local talk show to promote all Santa Clarita non-profits.

Wilk’s 38^th Assembly District encompasses Simi Valley, the northern section of the San Fernando Valley and most of the Santa Clarita Valley.
